About This Spot

Stepping into Calmar Burger Bar feels like settling into a familiar rhythm of a small town midday pause. There’s a comforting hum of activity — a steady flow of folks stopping by for a quick bite or lingering a little longer at the picnic tables outside, sharing easy conversation over a freshly made burger and a cold drink. It’s a quietly welcoming spot where the pace never rushes but always moves along thoughtfully, reflecting the simplicity and honest roots of its community.

The atmosphere is warm and unpretentious, with a clean, well-kept dining room that invites you to relax without fuss. Behind the counter, there’s a reassuring sense of care as you glimpse into the kitchen where ingredients are handled with pride and attention. Friendly faces greet you at the window or till, adding to that feeling of neighborly connection — the kind you notice and appreciate when you choose a local spot over a chain.

Calmar Burger Bar crafts its menu to echo that straightforward, gratifying mood. The offerings come to life beyond a mere list of burgers and sides, reflecting moments like sharing a plate of crispy corn fritters on a sunny afternoon or savoring a strawberry milkshake that feels just right after a day on the road. The burgers themselves carry a cozy, substantial quality with real Alberta beef shaping each bite, threaded with simple toppings that never overcomplicate the experience but let the flavors speak quietly for themselves.

Alongside the food, there’s a genuine attention to detail — from the fluffiness of hand-cut fries to the flicker of care in keeping the space spotless and inviting. This kind of place earns its steady regulars by delivering not only meals but a small, consistent slice of community laid out on every plate.

Whether you’re pulling in during a leisurely afternoon or grabbing a quick meal to keep moving, Calmar Burger Bar offers a grounded moment of refreshment — warm, reliable, and thoughtfully familiar in every sense.

I live in town but have never eaten here so swung through the drive thru today and ordered a Salisbury burger with 2 patties, added bacon, a small onion ring and a large Strawberry Milkshake. The bill was $22 which I thought was fair and the food was good! I'd much rather come here and support a local business than go to any other fast food burger chain. The burger was great (didn't need the bacon), ask for a couple extra napkins if you get this one because she's messy with that mushroom sauce lol Onion rings were a perfect size and the strawberry milkshake reminded me of something I got as a kid back in the 80's. Highly recommend! Will definitely be back

Stopped for burgers while antique shopping in Calmar one afternoon. We ordered in the drive thru and ate at their picnic tables outdoors. Our food was quick to order and made fresh. The staff were friendly. We ordered double cheese burgers, corn fritters, and ice tea.

Friend recommended this place as he loves the milkshakes here. We driving on the way back from Drayton Valley. We both order burgers and shakes. He don't lie. These are some pretty good shakes. Got me a strawberry one. Fries are good. Nice and fluffy. Burger was okay.

Calmar Burger Joint never disappoints. The food is always fresh and flavorful—especially the fried chicken, which is crispy, juicy, and easily one of the best around. Quick service, super friendly & professional staff, and consistently great meals. My go-to burger place, every time.

Fantastic burgers, huge, real Alberta beef, soft buns, great prices. Super clean everywhere. You can see directly into the kitchen. Nothing to hide. Dining room spotless. Employee was not just wiping the seats. He was scrubbing the complete chair right down to the floor and using a cleaner in the manufacturers sprayer, not some mystery stuff diluted in a generic sprayer. Detail throughout. I highly highly recommend.

I stopped in and had the mushroom burger. The burger tasted great but I'm not sure if anything is made from scratch in house. Decent value as well.
